About BE
Welcome to the Belief Energy (BE) optimal living conversation!
Are you self-observant and in your full ALIVENESS? Do you think about what makes you you? Have you consciously defined the priorities that propel and direct you? Do you have belief in what you do every day? Does it energize you? Are you fully ALIVE vs. just living?
I can answer YES! to all six questions. I started the BE conversation in 2011 as a creative outlet and vehicle for helping everyone around me experience optimal living in their own way. Please read my entries, do some of the assignments, contribute to the Belief Energy facebook page and attend or host a BEing Day in your area soon.
My goal is to inspire and facilitate a conversation which helps people look within themselves to:
- ALLOW
- EARN &
- SUSTAIN their version of optimal living.
I help people do this by bringing attention to three ALLOWing concepts: Open, Mindful and Integrated. I then help them define, apply and expand (EARN) their own set of Core4 living priorities in four aspects: Soul, Tribe, Health and Action. It’s from these Core4 that they define their own version of optimal living and build a plan to SUSTAIN it.
Since early childhood, I’ve been told that I have a vibrant, positive personality. Family, friends and colleagues always compliment me on my energetic and passionate approach to life. It’s helped me create extraordinary opportunities for myself and others . Reading my LinkedIn recommendations and Facebook birthday posts recently reinforced this. The best part is…it’s not just a show. I genuinely believe in myself, my tribe and the world. I’m awake and loving.
I want to help people from every corner of the planet to live their optimal life.
For the past two decades I’ve kept personal journals. My entries chronicle amazing and challenging life chapters. They cover the ups:
- Traveling the globe and moving to CA from a small Kansas town.
- Being the valedictorian of a major university. Go Jayhawks!!!
- Raising a healthy, beautiful daughter.
- Succeeding at at company called salesforce.com for nine years: selling for 5 years, motivating salespeople & enabling 10K nonprofits.
- Starting a social enterprise at LinkedIn that enables hundreds of thousands of nonprofit organizations.
- Volunteering with dozens of nonprofits inviting local and global community involvement awards.
- Running trail ultramarathons in various mountain ranges included a 50 mile event at Mount Hood in Oregon in 2010.
- Finding complete honesty and love in my present relationship.
- Birthing and facilitating a movement (a conversation called Belief Energy or BE) that helps people live their optimal life.
They also cover the downs and the fears associated with:
- Constantly letting our brain do our living.
- A nearly suicidal summer before my senior year in undergrad.
- Ending and graduating from major love relationships.
- Experiencing professional “failure” for the first time ever.
- Most chapters in life that feel like a plateau.
Mainly, my journals contain lists and strategies for optimizing and fully living during my time on earth. In early 2011 on a shuttle bus between Lake Tahoe and Reno Airport, I started a journal entry that changed my life. I wrote about a peak life chapter, then furiously listed what made it possible. With tears streaming down my face onto the page, Belief Energy was born. I know on that day that I needed to start sharing my thoughts with other people. I felt like I had the power of the sun at my disposal that day. My belief and energy were at an all time high!
The simple process of writing down the best parts of my first decades of life, listing what enabled them and giving that process a name was unbelievably powerful. Belief Energy (or BE) is the name I gave to my version of optimal living that day. It’s the framework I live by and make decisions with. It represents the four living priority aspects that work together to power my happiness and success: Soul, Tribe, Health and Action. It’s in these four areas that I live in the now and my full aliveness, observe myself, overcome barriers, set goals, make decisions and remain accountable.
Soon after the birth of Belief Energy a BEing Day near San Francisco. 147 people participated in the workshop in person and online. It was one of the most fulfilling and exciting days of my life. I’m so glad everyone enjoyed it and got so much out of it. The support and appreciation I felt facilitating the day-long workshop is a feeling I’ll keep with me forever. I look forward to hosting many more and helping other people assemble similar events all over the world for the rest of my life.
I don’t have an advanced science or counseling degree, but I do have a big heart and lots of ideas to share. Whether we focus on it or not, all people have a central power source that motivates, propels and guides them. They have their own version of Belief Energy, but may not have spent time mapping it out yet. Maybe they’ve never consciously thought about how they move through their life, but they know that something guides them. My goal isn’t to coerce people to adopt my power source or even my exact perspective. It’s to inspire an important conversation that helps everyone define, access, expand and sustain their own version of Belief Energy…ideally without requiring a 17 year journaling prerequisite.
Please enjoy this blog and the BE Facebook Page.

Brian-
This a wonderful and beautiful site! It was great to learn of all of the great things you’ve accomplished since KU – we all knew you would! I too took a turn in my life by recently joining a KU grad to start a business called Bare Heart Buddy – Bare Hearts are a fantastic therapeutic tool to help provide hope to children and their families during times of need. In the two weeks we’ve been on the market we’ve been able to touch children’s lives in NC, SC, KY, KS, MO, NY, NV, AZ and Switzerland. I’m SO proud of Bare Hearts and how it has changed children’s lives by giving them hope and reminding them they are loved. You should look at our website (www.bareheartbuddy.com) and spread the word as I will about this fantastic, uplifting site!
Awesome Bryan….for the many years I have know you, you have always been an inspiration to the people around you. I’m very excited to learn more and becoming a better person.

So wonderful and thank goodness there is not a 17 year journaling prerequisite.
Haaa! Thanks for joining this important conversation.
Breck, What I love most about this site is how it reflects your genuine nature of wanting to help others…yet doesn’t fail to mention what you are doing to live YOUR best life.
Bold to list your fears…but then you are one of the boldest people I have ever had the pleasure to know.
Look forward to seeing more as you gather more steam!
